Hunters for the Hungry Announces 2009 Arctic Cat Raffle Winner

Winning ticket drawn at Virginia Outdoor Sportsman Show

$23,975 raised to support the efforts of Hunters for the Hungry

The Hunters for the Hungry program is pleased to announce the winner of their annual Arctic Cat ATV and trailer raffle. The drawing for this raffle took place Sunday, August 9th, at the Virginia Outdoor Sportsman Show in Richmond, Virginia. Mr. Carl Bryant of Crewe, Virginia, won the 2008 Arctic Cat and Holmes Trailer package. The winning ticket, #5915, was drawn by Mrs. Mary Crittenden near the conclusion of the weekend show.

Hunters for the Hungry presented the Arctic Cat and trailer to Mr. Bryant on Wednesday, August 12th at the Bryant’s home in Nottoway county.  Mr. Bryant  said, " I can’t believe I won".  He noted that when he found out that Sunday evening he had won, he called his son in law and asked if they had gotten a call about the ATV raffle.  He advised him that he had not, to which Mr. Bryant replied, “They haven’t called you  because they had called me to tell me I had won the ATV”.  Mr. Bryant had purchased his winning ticket at the Virginia Outdoor Sportsman Show on that Sunday afternoon while attending the show. Although Mr. Bryant admitted he was a little reluctant to buy a ticket at first because he just didn’t think he would win. He did so because he knew it was a really good cause.  He noted that as a hunter he knew that Hunters for the Hungry program did a lot to help out the needy and to promote hunting in such a good way. He advised that his local church had even taken up an offering and sent it to the Hunters for the Hungry program in the past. Mr. Bryant advised he would be a devoted supporter of the program in the future and plans to support all the raffles and efforts as well as to spread the word about the program to all those he knows that hunt. When asked how he felt about winning he exclaimed with a huge smile “ HAPPY”!   Of course Mr. Bryant’s mother –in –law, Mrs. Doris Williams advised she was the one who brought him the luck!

The Hunters for the Hungry would like to thank the following Arctic Cat dealerships and other businesses and individuals who made this year’s raffle another success. They are as follows: Central Virginia Soil Consulting, Inc.,  Mr. David B. Beahm, Forest, VA; New London Tractor and Equipment, Mr. Jerry Skinner, Forest, VA; Rowland Equipment Company of Smithfield, VA; Outback Motorsports,  Amherst, VA; and Knick Classic Cycle & Outdoor Power Equipment, Covington, VA.

Additionally, Hunters for the Hungry would like to express their sincere thanks to Virginia Farm Bureau Service Corporation who again donated the raffle tickets and High Peak Sportswear of Lynchburg, VA for their design of the raffle sign for the bike. They would also like to thank each business and individual that contributed to this raffle through either purchasing tickets or helping to sell tickets in this special fund raising effort.

Hunters for the Hungry also wishes to thank the Arctic Cat Corporation and Gary Perdue for their support in acquiring the ATV for this year’s raffle. The funds that were generated through this important raffle will allow the program to process and distribute nearly 600 deer during the upcoming hunting seasons. These donated deer will yield  approximately 30,000 pounds of meat (which is 120,00 four-ounce servings) for those in need all across the state. The program's goal for this year is to process and distribute 370,000 pounds of venison.
