The eighth annual David H. Horne.  This year's tournament was a huge success raising $26,661.22. This amount of monies will allow the program to process and distribute 133,306 four-ounce servings of venison to those in need all across Virginia this fall and winter.

The tournament field was comprised of 32 teams who enjoyed the good food and fellowship on a beautiful fall afternoon.  Tournament play was followed by a meal, live and silent auctions and an awards ceremony.  There were numerous door prizes and fantastic live and silent auctions with items donated by local individuals and businesses.  Eddie and Cheryl Ragland and staff from Appomattox, VA catered a wonderful meal that was enjoyed by all.

The tournament was a captain's choice format and winners were awarded trophies based upon the total number of teams and individual team scores. First and second place were awarded in each of the three flights.

According to Debbie Reynolds, speaking on behalf of the Hunters for the Hungry program, the event was a huge success.  She said, "We sincerely appreciate all those that made this tournament possible.  Our sponsors, prize donors, players, volunteers and the staff at London Downs all had a part in making this an outstanding event.  The money raised from the tournament will provide thousands of pounds of venison to the needy in Virginia.  Thanks to all for their kindness and overwhelming response in memory of David."

Hunters for the Hungry is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit feeding organization that has as its 2009 goal, the distribution of 380,000 pounds of venison.  This meat is donated by successful hunters and is made available to those in need around the state.

Gary Arrington, Special Projects Coordinator for Hunters for the Hungry added, " We here at Hunters for the Hungry have been so richly blessed by all those who helped us with this event and thanks to the overwhelming support we received, many less fortunate will be blessed this year.
