FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE October 12, 2009 3rd Annual WSLS 10 / Hunters for the Hungry Sportsmen's
Banquet Another Huge Success !
The 3rd Annual WSLS 10 / Hunters for the Hungry
Sportsmen's Banquet was held on Saturday September 12, 2009 at The
Roanoke Moose Lodge #284 in Salem, Virginia. Although the event was held
at a new location it was once again filled with fun, fellowship, a great
meal, and allowed the Hunters for the Hungry program to spread important
awareness while raising some much needed funding. The event was again
sold out with nearly 300 attendees representing the community and many
area businesses, organizations, and families.
The evening consisted of a
social hour that allowed attendees to enjoy some fellowship while taking
part in a variety of raffles. Additionally, attendees were able to view
and place bids in the silent auction while viewing the nice variety of
items that made up the live auction held later in the evening. During
this time the nearly 30 children that were in attendance enjoyed time
together playing a variety of games, coloring and crafts, and a time of
demonstrations and interaction with representatives from Super Kicks
Karate Studios In addition to a time of
fellowship and viewing the event merchandise and other highlights, the
attendees enjoyed a great meal catered by Country Kitchen Catering of
Blacksburg
After a delicious meal,
the evening was closed with the conduction of its live and silent
auctions. The overall event was a huge success raising $21,330.00
dollars. This amount of monies will allow the Hunters for the Hungry
program to process and distribute approximately 106,650 four ounce
servings of high protein, low fat venison to needy men, women, and
children in the Roanoke Valley and surrounding areas as well as all
across the Commonwealth.
The Hunters for the Hungry
program wishes to express its deepest and most sincere gratitude to each
business, organization, and individual that contributed to this very
special event. A very heartfelt thank you is extended to everyone who
took time out of his or her busy schedules to attend the event. And to
the board and staff of the Roanoke Moose Lodge #284, who allowed the
event to be held in their great facility and who provided tireless
support before, during, and at the conclusion of the event. And thanks to all of the
